Maximo Laura

Maximo Laura’s work is the rediscovery of the rich, fascinating and millennial historical textile source of the Andes combined with the innovations in the international field of tapestry. His works are three-dimensional representations of Andean mythological themes drawn from Peru's rich history of pre-Columbian cultures such as the Incas and their modern day descendants the Quechua Indians. The iconography in his work reveals the culture of the Andean peoples, whether through themes of celebration, music or the sea. Maximo Laura has work in the permanent collection of Catholic Relief Services in Baltimore, Maryland.
